In today's society, labels are a part of the individual's identity. The labels we wear on our bodies influence how others see us and how we see ourselves. Today, we live in a society that tries to fit people into perfect little boxes. We categorize people the moment we see them. In our society, labels are essential since it is difficult to comprehend things that do not fit into the predetermined boxes. "While the LGBTQ+ community's expansive activism far exceeds this project's scope, I will focus on artists' works that have challenged normative systems, societal relationships, and heterogeneous systems by breaking down gender norms, which are prevalent throughout all sectors of society. Let Me Hold You explores how gender identity and gender roles profoundly impact the exclusion of LGBTQ+ individuals in society and form their inclusive communities. We will embark on a journey to highlight the beauty and uniqueness of LGBTQ+ relationships and to highlight how gender is a constantly changing concept through the experiences of every one of our artists.
Let Me Hold You features six French upcoming artists who are address topics of queerness, love, gender, and transgender rights through their voices, experiences, and artistic expression. These artists share a rich inner life that offers the world new understandings of gender and sex, as well as our identities and expressions. We will be showcasing a number of painting and photography works, as well as some selections from the careers of our artists, in this exhibition. It is our hope that our exhibit will serve as a platform for sharing stories, allowing voices to be heard, creating awareness and community, and promoting change through sharing stories.
At a young age I tagged along with my mother to places all over India in her pursuit to acquire and appreciate art. Through the years I have come to realise that Art is much more than what meets the eye. It’s a conveyance of much more than physical representations. Great art invokes great things in the viewers as well as the artist.
“With ‘Let Me Hold You’, I intend to create a space for a rich inner life that offers the world new understandings of gender, sex, identity, and expression. In order to realize this, we must engage with the topic of gender, and I’m sure that this exhibiton will provide a critical space to discuss gender, love, trans issues, and LGBTQ+ inclusion in our society today.”
